The Synergy Summer School (SynSS) 2024, held in Ischia (Naples), Italy, from June 24th to 28th, brought together a diverse cohort of researchers, instructors, and students. The event was co-organised between EU-funded All-Atlantic sister projects: AtlantECO, Mission Atlantic, and BIOcean5D.

The central goal of SynSS 2024 was to enable a new generation of scientists to tackle theoretical and experimental challenges within the context of open ocean seascape ecology. Participants dove deep into cutting-edge research, exploring topics such as: the ocean fluid dynamics into current theoretical frameworks (community structure, biogeographies, niche concept, effectiveness of the active tracer response, persistence and fitness, possible functional redundancy, stability of the metabolic machinery with respect to species turnover, etc.) and in the design of new multidisciplinary studies.

SynSS 2024 attracted 17 enthusiastic students eager to learn and contribute. Alongside them were 12 experienced instructors who facilitated dialogues, shared insights, and fostered collaboration.
