18 Apr 2023 - 19 Apr 2023
Following a successful workshop in 2022, a second Marine Biodiversity Data Mobilization Workshop will take place online from 18 - 19 April 2023 from 13:00 - 17:00 ET. The workshop is jointly hosted by CIOOS, Hakai, IOOS, MBON, OBIS-USA, and OTN and contributes to the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development and the Marine Life 2030 Decade Action.
The workshop is intended to be a small hands-on, interactive virtual workshop focused on mobilizing marine biological observation datasets to the Ocean Biodiversity Information System (OBIS). The primary objective of the workshop is to help data providers standardize their data to Darwin Core. Datasets can include species observations from genetic sources, photographs, automated identifications, animal tracking, sampling trawls and more.
Participants must have a dataset to work on, some experience in R or Python, and a basic knowledge of Github.
To join this workshop, please complete this form to apply. The deadline for submissions is February 15, 2023. Accepted applicants will be notified no later than March 15, 2023, and will receive details about the workshop logistics shortly after.
